Cambodian-born chef Kanida Chey is bringing a taste of Argentina to Little Portugal with the opening of Branca, a traditional Argentina-insppired restaurant. Now serving a menu with a ton of meat and locally-grown produce, diners can expect South American classics like skirt steak, beef short ribs, and bone-in Alaskan halibut steak complemented by house-made condiments like chimichurri.
All of Branca's proteins are cooked using the customary slow fire-roasting technique. On your first visit, ask for a tour of la casa de fuego, the "brick house" in which meats are cooked al asador-style, to see what it's all about.
Open Wednesday through Sunday with reservations taken from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. 1727 Dundas Street West; (416) 519-8165.
