The Yorkdale outpost of Jamie's Italian will open this spring, a collaboration between the Jamie Oliver empire and Buca chef Rob Gentile. Here, a profile of Gentile's background and how Oliver came to partner with him for the 8000-square-foot restaurant.
Jamie's Italian will serve "cured meats, seasonal salads, handmade pasta, and dry-aged steaks cooked under a brick." But that's not all in store for Gentile next year: The chef also reportedly plans to open a second Buca in Yorkville. Buca Yorkville "will focus more on sustainably sourced seafood, including whole fish and seafood salumi such as salmon mortadella or octopus sopressata."
