Patois, serving "Caribbean meets Asian soul food," soft-opened this weekend at Dundas Street West and Palmerston. The early menu features items like "pierogi-style" kimchi potstickers, cassavas bravas, and juicy jerk chicken. To drink, look for cocktails including the Cherry Blossom, with gin, guava-mango tea, pineapple shrub, cherry bitters, and a dragonfruit garnish. Earlier this year, chef/owner Craig Wong said of the restaurant, "[It serves] the food that I always wanted to cook, and, as a cook, always wanted to eat."
Open every day but Tuesday from 5 p.m. to late, with the kitchen closing around 11 p.m. 794 Dundas Street West. (647)-350-8999. patoistoronto.com.
