Izakaya and ramen goodness is now on offer in North Toronto, in the old Piazzetta Trattoria 3 space. The second outpost of Touhenboku Ramen from Zuimei Okuyama has been open a week now. Fans of the original at Queen West can expect a similar menu and format: ramen by day until 3:00 p.m. and, for dinner service after 5:30 p.m., innovative izakaya fare from the mind of chef Michi Tanaka (formerly of the Drake Hotel).
Emphasis on boozy drinks is most definitely in effect, natch, with shochu cocktails and local and Japanese suds. Oh and bonus: Touhenboku Ramen is open seven days a week.
Better than passable ramen north of Bloor? Yes please.
