There are three vacancies, all in a row, on the east side of Yonge Street, just south of St. Clair Avenue. Midtown certainly is not the heart of Toronto's dining scene: of the 112 new and "noteworthy" restaurants included in Toronto Life's 2013 Year in Review, only 7 opened in Midtown. By comparison, 21 restaurants opened on the East Side, 52 restaurants opened on the West Side, and 33 restaurants opened in Central Toronto. (For all of you eagle-eye readers who noticed that 7 + 21 + 52 + 33 equals 113, you will have to take that up with The Dish.)
Here's hoping that these vacancies pave the way for new restaurants in the area. What new restaurants would you like to see at Yonge and St. Clair? Let us know in the comments. Have any tips on what will become of the vacancies? Email us at toronto@eater.com.
