Weekend Openings: Penny's Bar, Me.n.u Food Truck, More

1) Bloordale: The slowly developing corner of Bloor and Landsdowne welcomes its latest local with Penny's Bar. Joining the likes of The Whippoorwill, The Emerson, and Holy Oak Café, the self-proclaimed "dive bar with a touch of class" celebrates its grand opening tonight with food, booze and a performance by blues act The Legendary Castaways. 1306 Bloor St West.

2) Muskoka: One of the city's most popular taco joints has extended itself from Parkdale all the way to the cottage country. Grand Electric officially opened the doors to its lakeside Port Carling location yesterday, serving its regular offerings with more ceviche and fresh oysters. 3) Entertainment District Plus: Like many other Toronto food startups, the boys behind Me.n.u first introduced their savoury deep-fried rice balls at various festivals around the city. Tomorrow their food truck launches at the corner of Queen and University, serving expanded menu items like satay chicken roti tacos and Peking duck poutine.
