There were thousands of recommendations, months of interviews and research, and now it's time to unveil the Eater Young Guns Semi-Finalists for 2014. Congratulations to Toronto's sole pick, Mitchell Bates, chef de cuisine at Momofuku Shōtō.
Eater Young Guns seeks to identify the most promising up-and-coming talent in the restaurant industry, whether they're working the front or back of the house. They must be 30 years of age or younger (or have worked in their chosen field for less than five years) and currently working in the hospitality industry in the United States or Canada. The Eater Young Guns Class of 2014 will be announced in late June.
