RONCESVALLES – Mata, a new South American petisqueria (shared-plate dining), plans to open in early June at 1690 Queen W. in the former Keriwa Café space. The kitchen will be run by Chef Felipe Faccioli (Fishbar, Salt Wine Bar, Chiado) with Steve Fernandes and Sharath Dwarkanathan (Salt, Fishbar) working front-of-house.
DANFORTH – Tilde, a new taco restaurant, with a heavy focus on vegetarian options, will open sometime in June, but in the meantime, they would love help from the community to do some painting – in exchange for a free taco/hour of help. [Toronto Life]
DINESAFE – No restaurants were forced to close this week but from Yorkville to Bloor West and down to Front Street, yellow cards were handed out, with the most extreme concerns – pest control issues – scurrying about at The Sultan's Tent. (blogTO)
WINDSOR ARMS - Executive chef Jean-Pierre Challet is returning to the Windsor Arms Hotel.
