Forget the celebrity tabloids, the Canadian government knows how to write salacious headlines: "Various organic black peppercorns recalled due to Salmonella;" "Grandma's Perogies brand Potato & Bacon Perogies contain undeclared soy." Healthy Canadians, a governmental website that keeps citizens educated about environmental issues, consumer products, and food safety, can come off a bit school marm-ish, but its daily food recall advisories are where the real action lives. On these pages, brands are busted for not listing ingredients and called out if they've contracted old-world scourges. On that note, a Korean rice porridge was recalled last week "due to potential presence of dangerous bacteria." Not entirely specific but good to know.
