Three Canadian gelato makers are headed to Austin, Texas, to compete in the first North American stop of the Gelato World Tour. Tammy Giuliani, of Ottawa-based Stella Luna Gelato Café, and Vancouver's James Coleridge and Salvatore Boccarossa, of Bella Gelateria, will go spoon-to-spoon against fourteen American gelato experts from May 9-11. Oddly, the top three selected will move on "to represent the U.S." at the grand finale held in Rimini, Italy, which will be awkward when the top two teams turn out to be Canadians.
