Toronto has gone dippy for all things Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine. So much so Jennifer Bain has written a feature article in the Toronto Star about a burgeoning food trend, dubbed by District Oven chef/owner Isam Kaisi as "Middle'terranean." Opening this week is S. Lefkowitz by Ezra Brave, the cities' first "hummusia" in the former Ezra Pound space on Dundas West; next month, Dupont gets Anthony Rose's Fat Pasha; and soon Me Va Me expands to Queen West. Add to this the newly-opened Byblos on Duncan St. and Kaisi's District Oven on College St., and the "Middle-terranean" scene has more than a foothold on the GTA's taste buds.
