Annex Aroma Renovation; Chef Loseto Wins Big

ANNEX - The Aroma Espresso Bar just east of Bathurst on Bloor is getting a makeover. The windows have been papered for a week but the company says it will be back in business mid-February with "a brighter and better atmosphere." [Twitter]

CORKTOWN - Over the weekend, Lorenzo Loseto, executive chef at George Restaurant, and his team has won the 2014 Canadian Culinary Championships held in Kelowna, B.C. Their Twitter page showcases the dishes that won the title, but if diners are looking for Loseto, he's already hard at work on his next big event. March 3rd, the decorated chef teams up with fashion designer Caitlin Power to kick off Toronto Fashion Week with a four-course meal served by the runway. Details here. [Twitter]

More cooking competition news: Eater's Chef Of The Year 2013, Derek Dammann (of Montreal's Maison Publique), and his team, won the 4th Annual Chef's Challenge in Toronto. The event, hosted by Giada De Laurentiis, gave fundraisers for cancer research an opportunity to cook alongside a parade of star chefs. [Twitter]
