After a busy December with soft openings for family, friends, and industry-insiders, Parkdale's Small Town Food Co. officially opens today and Toronto Life has already called it "a cozy Parkdale pub with big-city polish." Helmed by old chums and industry veterans, Stephen McKeon (Wrongbar) and Cameron Hutton (former The Drake Hotel bartender), with Chef Tallis Voakes, formerly of Pollen Street Social and London UK's Nobu, in the kitchen, the restaurant has a chill rural-Ontario vibe with a menu the restaurant's press release calls an "elevated approach to comfort food" with some Asian influences. The cocktail menu grows daily and the wine list is curated by noted sommelier Anton Potvin. Small Town Food Co. takes reservations, and is open every day except Tuesdays. The kitchen serves until 1AM and the bar until 2:30AM.
