Chef's Challenge; FoodShare's Recipe For Change

On February 8th, the Chef's Challenge: The Ultimate Battle for a Cure, in support of care and research in women's cancers at Mount Sinai Hospital, brings together top chef talent and fundraisers to battle on teams in the Chef's Challenge "stadium" at the Toronto Congress Centre. The Top 50 Fundraisers will be divided onto groups led by David Rocco, Bal Arneson, Derek Dammann, Vikram Vij, and Mark McEwan, to oust former champion Chef Lynn Crawford. Dropped into a pressure cooker, teams will attempt to prepare the perfect meal for the Chef's Challenge judges, most notably Giada de Laurentiis. Register here.

On February 27th, FoodShare celebrates its fifth annual Recipe For Change, a fundraiser to benefit FoodShare's literacy programme. Students team up with top-tier chefs (The Tempered Chef's Bertrand Alépée, Carmen's Luis Valenzuela, Belmonte Raw's Carol Belmonte) to prepare elaborate meals, with more than 20 VGA wines to sip and six local beers on tap. The festivities will be held in the St. Lawrence North Market and tickets are $125.
