Why Wait Wednesday; The Beach Gets Smoked; Drake Does Sotto Sotto

Eight Wine Bar/Yelp

FINANCIAL DISTRICT— Downtown's Eight Wine Bar at the Cosmopolitan Hotel is launching "Why Wait for the Weekend Wednesdays" on October 16 (with the way too long and reminiscent of war hashtag #WWWWednesdays). Between 5-8pm there will be a deejay spinning, plus $5 mixed drinks, $5 beer and $5 wine on tap (as is the style of the times). Maybe they should have called it #fivebuckhumps. [Eaterwire]

THE BEACH— The launch date is getting narrowed down for food truck Hogtown Smoke's new immobile location at 1959 Queen Street East. The resto will begin offering its food truck fare and more in mid-October. [BlogTO]

YORKVILLE— According to social scene sleuth Shinan Govani, the Raptors' new global ambassador Drake was spotted dining at (what many protest is has-been) Sotto Sotto the other night. Guess chef Marisa Rocca still knows how to attract the A-list after all. [National Post]

GRANGE PARK— Chef Rene Redzepi of Noma in Copenhagen will be coming to Toronto as part of a seven-city tour to launch his new book: A WORK IN PROGRESS (Phaidon, $59.95, pub date: Nov 11, 2013). Between November 12-22 he will visit NYC, Washington DC, Seattle, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Toronto, stopping by the AGO on November 16. Tickets are $70 and include a copy of the book; contact The Cookbook Store for info. [Eaterwire]
