Bugs And Beer Dinner Tonight at Victory Cafe

Victory Cafe

There's a spooktacular Hallowe'en feast festivity in the city tonight as Victory Cafe is hosting a beer and bugs dinner. Chef Cookie Martinez pairs up with Mirella Amato (Canada's only Master Cicerone a.k.a. beer sommelier). Get tickets to this Alimentary Initiatives and Beerology event here or pay $40 at the door.

Toronto restaurants have been serving up bugs for a while now, but not very prominently nor often. Eating insects, or entomophagy, is a sustainable food source and probably will be the human diet once all the animals and fish have been depleted from over-consumption.

Tonight's event at Victory Cafe is intended to be a quality culinary feast, not just a fun trick-or-treat spoof. Alimentary Initiatives is a forerunner in the future of food. And with Mirella Amato pairing the beers, guests will most likely learn a lot more than just which creepy crawlers to consume. She's one of the best in the biz.

Where are you going for a spooky Halloween meal tonight? Have you eaten bugs before? Did you enjoy them? Leave your comments below or email toronto@eater.com!
