King West's KiWe Kitchen has closed. According to eye witness comments, the Italian resto had a Yellow (conditional) DineSafe pass three weeks ago and shortly thereafter its windows were papered up. Perhaps expecting renovations and not a closing, news of its demise was not confirmed until recently.
An Ocean Wise partner, KiWe Kitchen had been drawing patronage from the growing King West crowds for the past seven years. What used to be a great location for dinner before hitting, er, the Brant House until all those other places moved in (Valdez, Wvrst, Weslodge, Home of the Brave, Lee...), KiWe had been keeping a relatively low profile as of late.
Guess they just couldn't compete or else let themselves go?
Have you seen any of your old standbys go up in smoke? Get shuttered in the night? Unable to keep up with the new kids on the block? Let us know! toronto@eater.com
